For leading the department “Marine Aquaculture for Sustainable Fisheries”. The workplace is in Bremerhaven, Germany. Starting date is as soon as possible.
Your duties will comprise the scientific orientation of the department and the management of staff and budget. You will be responsible for acquiring industrial and public-funded projects, dissemination of results in journals, at conferences, and in public media. IMARE acts as an interface between research and commercial application, so you will collaborate closely with industrial clients and interact with various disciplines of natural, engineering, economic and social sciences. In co-operation with the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences you will supervise students at the levels of bachelor and master.
You will require a PhD in marine biology, fishery biology or a related subject, preferably with a focus on aquaculture with several years of work experience, ideally in applied research and industry. Experience in the supervision of personal is of advantage but not a necessary prerequisite. We expect you to have experience in writing proposals for public funded projects and in making acquisitions of industrial orders. Furthermore, we expect high flexibility and mobility and willingness to participate in sea-going expeditions over several days.
