Summary of Role:
To reinforce the company’s ability to develop and deploy state-of-the-art solutions in order to operate effectively and safely in arctic environments, a position is open in the R&D department for an arctic metocean specialist. The candidate should bring broad expert knowledge of issues and emerging solutions in the area of Arctic operations, with a specific focus on sea ice formation and properties and their impact on business and engineering solutions.
Contribute to the Company’s Arctic R&D department programme
Provide leadership in the following
Propose research initiatives aimed at improving understanding of metocean and sea ice issues and their impact on Arctic developments Manage research activities and feasibility studies staffed with internal personnel, identifying and integrating contributions from external organizations (national and international universities and research centres and service providers) Contribute to the definition of R&D objectives for Arctic operations that respond to the issues of sea ice, including e.g., exploration, drilling and development operations Required Experience / Qualification, Experience and Competencies
University Degree in Oceanography, Meteorology, Ocean Engineering or Hydrodynamics Demonstrated experience in the area of ice prediction/management Understanding of the engineering implications of sea ice cover/icebergs Industrial experience is strongly preferred Required experience: 10+ years Fluency in written & spoken English Employment terms
Appointee will be invited to join Expatriate Staff Payroll on married / single status contract
