NAFC Marine Centre -Marine Science and Technology Section
As Shellfish Research Assistant, you will be working within the Marine Science and Technology Section and responsible for data collection as part of our existing shellfish stock assessment and research programme. This will involve carrying out shellfish sampling at sea, both on commercial vessels and our own research vessel. Other duties will include participation in fisheries research programmes including commercial finfish sampling.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within our dedicated Fisheries Science Team, in a post with varied and interesting duties. The NAFC Marine Centre provides a key role in supporting local fisheries management through the provision of high quality fisheries data and advice, and through targeted research programmes.
You should have a minimum of a BSc in a relevant subject; relevant employment experience is desirable. You should be computer literate with experience of data collection, analysis and reporting. Seagoing experience is also highly desirable, however full training will be provided.

This post is a permanent position, following the successful completion of a probationary period, and the starting salary is in the range £26,323 to £27,907.
