Physiomar 12 will be held in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia (Spain). We are pleased to announce that this meeting will be held from 4th to 8th September, 2012 at the Faculty of Biology (Room Santiago Ramón y Cajal), University of Santiago de Compostela. The conference is being organised jointly by Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas (IIM-CSIC) and Centro de Investigacións Mariñas (CIMA, Xunta de Galicia).
This conference follows a very successful workshop held in La Paz (Mexico) in November 2006 under the guidance of Maria Concepcion Lora Vilchis and Elena Palacios Metchenov from CIBNOR, and two more meetings: Physiomar 08 organized by IUEM (European Institute for Marine Studies) and Ifremer (French Institute for the Research and Exploitation of the Sea) in Brest (France) and Physiomar 10 held in Québec (Canada) and organized by ISMER-UQAR (Institut des Sciences de la Mer de Rimouski, Université du Québec) and MAPAQ (Agriculture, Pêcheries et Alimentation de Québec) and DFO (Fisheries and Oceans, Government of Canada). Physiomar 12 will focus mainly on Reproduction, Growth and Bioenergetics, Nutrition, Biomolecules and Biomaterials, and Genetics, Genomics and Proteomics. The 2012 conference will also include two specific sessions on Inmune Response and Response to Environmental Changes and Toxicity. This conference will serve as a forum for the communication of recent advances in all aspects of the physiology in molluscs. Researchers, students, stakeholders and molluscs farmers will have the opportunity to communicate personally in a friendly environment with leaders in the field. This meeting aims to provide a vehicle for continuing exchanges, cooperation, and collaboration in the field of the physiology of marine molluscs to better understand their adaptation ability in a changing environment, their ecological significance, and to promote their sustainable culture. Molluscs have a worldwide economic and ecological importance as evidenced by the more than 125 participants from 25 countries who usually attend the workshops.
The meeting will include oral presentations and posters in seven topics, see instructions for authors. Physiomar 12 will focus on seven main topics:
Reproduction Growth and Bioenergetics
Nutrition Biomolecules and Biomaterials Genetics
Genomics and Proteomics
Response to Environmental Changes and Toxicity
