Opportunities for research positions at Doñana Biological Station, Spain

A recent Grant Agreement between Doñana Biological Station (EBD-CSIC, Sevilla, Spain)

http://www.ebd.csic.es/WebSite1/Principal.aspx) and the EU (Capacities Programme) includes the contracting of 8 researchers in three different areas.

EBD-CSIC invites applications for eight research positions which will become available under the 7th Framework Programme- European Project ECOGENES “Adapting to Global Change in the Mediterranean  hotspot: from genes to ecosystems”. The jobs are in the framework of Genomics (2 positions), Ecological Modelling (3 positions, 1 with a more general profile for bioinformatics) and Ecophysiology (3 positions, two of them for avian physiology and one for stable isotope analysis). PhD student in Spatial/Environmental analysis

The UAB is offering a three years PhD contract (category 1941PD) to support research in Spatial/Environmental analysis (March 1st 2011- January 31 2014).
The fellowship is sponsored by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Community as part of the PEGASO project (People for Ecosystem based Governance in Assessing Sustainable development of Ocean and coast (http://www.pegasoproject.eu/).
 Candidates should have background in geography, or ecology and/or environmental sciences or GIS and in addition strong ability to be involved in multi-disciplinary research. The candidate should become along these years fully integrated into the team, acknowledging also the other projects the team works with (EEA, ESA, GMES, ESPON, EU projects, etc). Sigue leyendo

Candidato beca FPI

The MIDAS-6 research project (SMOS ocean salinity and soil moisture products. Improvements and applications demonstration, PI Dr. Jordi Font), which is part of the Spanish contribution to the European Space Agency Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity mission (http://www.esa.int/esaLP/LPsmos.html), has been granted with a fellowship to carry out a PhD in the Department of Physical Oceanography of the Institut de Ciències del Mar (CSIC) in Barcelona (http://www.icm.csic.es/oce/).

The PhD will be carried out in the domain of SMOS salinity data exploitation by addressing the generation of level 4 salinity maps using data fusion techniques. 2x Wildlife Education Officers required

Post 1: Senior Wildlife Education Officer
Salary: £1,333 per month (£16,000 per annum pro-rata)
Contract Period: 1st April – 30th September 2011
Hours: During ferry season, two week shifts at sea out of every four. Please note that the first two weeks will include training, followed by one week at sea on duty.

Post 2: Wildlife Education Officer
Salary: £1,167 per month (£14,000 per annum pro-rata)
Contract Period: 1st April – 30th September 2011
